What Thynk is

Thynk is an AI Ops Manager for Shopify — the e-commerce platform merchants use to run their online stores. Thynk is a single AI agent with direct access to every app a merchant connects (Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta Ads, and more), so it can reason across them instead of leaving you to stitch dashboards together. It remembers your store: your brand voice, your policies, and what you asked for last time.

Adding Thynk to Slack brings that agent into the place your team already works. The problem it solves: store questions and routine tasks no longer mean logging into three admin panels — you ask in Slack and Thynk answers with live data or does the work.

How it works in Slack

After you connect Slack, Thynk listens for the ways you'd talk to a teammate. Each reply is posted by the Thynk bot and attributed to it — never sent as you.

Free-form turns (/thynk, mentions, and direct messages) are answered by the agent and stream back into the conversation. The info commands (/help, /status, /plan, /model, /connect) are answered instantly by Thynk and shown only to you. Thynk replies in a channel only when you've invited it or are already talking to it there — it never posts into channels uninvited.

Install & connect

Thynk installs on your Shopify store first, then connects to Slack from inside the app — so your Slack workspace is linked to the right store securely.

  1. Add Thynk to Shopify. Install from the Shopify App Store and open the app in your Shopify admin.
  2. Open Connections → Slack. In Thynk, go to Connections and choose Slack, then select Connect.
  3. Authorize in your workspace. Slack shows the permissions Thynk needs; approve to add the Thynk bot to your workspace.
  4. You're set. You're returned to Thynk with the workspace linked. Type /thynk help in any channel to get started.

Connecting Slack requires a Thynk account on a Shopify store (step 1). One Slack workspace links to one Thynk store.

What Thynk can access

Thynk asks only for what it needs to work as a chat surface — the principle of least privilege. In Slack it can:

  • post messages and reply in threads, and send you direct messages;
  • read messages in channels it's a member of and in direct messages with it, so it can respond in context;
  • receive your slash commands and @mentions;
  • read basic workspace and member info to address people by name.

Thynk does not export or back up your Slack message history, and it acts only within the permissions you grant. Every action it takes on your connected apps is recorded in an audit trail and reversible where the underlying app allows it; you can disconnect Slack at any time.

About the AI

AI-generated responses

Thynk uses large language models to understand your requests and draft responses. Like any AI, it can occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete summaries, answers, or suggestions — review its output before relying on it for a decision. Your Slack data is never used to train AI models.

Slack plan

Thynk's built-in AI assistant container (the Chat tab in the app's Slack Home, with suggested prompts) requires a paid Slack plan. Every other feature — /thynk and the other slash commands, @mentions, and direct messages — works on free Slack plans. Thynk itself is free to install; see Pricing for plan limits.
